A device that detects and responds to some type of input from the physical environment. The specific input could be light, heat, motion, moisture, pressure, or any one of a great number of other environmental phenomena.
Sensors are used to detect and monitor compressed air/gas pressure levels in a system using a variety of electrical devices. These sensors are transducers, which provide an electrical signal proportional to the measured output pressure.
Pressure is converted into an analog electrical signal via pressure sensors. During the steam age, the demand for pressure measurement tools grew. We now use pressure transducers and pressure switches to electrically detect pressure.
There are four main types of pressure sensors:
- Absolute
- Sealed Gauge
- Gauge
- Differential
